
PHOENIX, June 14 (UPI) -- Mike Aviles' four hits and two RBI Saturday led the Kansas City Royals' 12-3 rout of Arizona.
One of Aviles' hits was a solo home run in the top of the second inning.
Kansas City's John Buck had two hits, one a three-run homer in the fifth. David DeJesus had two hits, including a solo homer in the sixth, and a run scored on Stephen Drew's third-inning throwing error.
Another scored on Edgar Gonzalez's seventh-inning wild pitch, while a total of five players had two hits for the Royals, who had lost three of four.
Winner Luke Hochevar (4-5) surrendered three runs -- two earned -- and 10 hits in seven innings with no walks and 10 strikeouts.
Arizona got one RBI from three players, including Orlando Hudson, who had three hits. Conor Jackson added two hits for the Diamondbacks, who have split their last four games.
Losing pitcher Randy Johnson (4-4) surrendered eight runs -- seven earned -- and 10 hits in 4 1/3 innings.
