SPARTA, Ky., June 14 (UPI) -- Joey Logano, 18 years, 21 days old, won Saturday's Meijer 300 at the Kentucky Speedway to become the youngest driver to win a Nationwide Series race.

The former age record was held by Casey Atwood at 18 years, 10 months, when he won in Milwaukee in July 1999.

Logano crossed the finish line 2.259 seconds ahead of Scott Wimmer. It was his first victory, but only his third start.

Logano and Kyle Busch were battling for the lead for most of the evening, but when Busch's Toyota spun out late in the race, there was no one left still in a position to challenge the rookie.
