
OMAHA, June 14 (UPI) -- The Georgia Bulldogs scored four times in the ninth inning Saturday to beat Miami (Fla) 7-4 on the first day of the Men's College World Series at Omaha.
Earlier Saturday, the Stanford Cardinal erupted for 11 runs in the ninth to break a tie game in a 16-5 rout of Florida State.
Ryan Peisel went 3-for-5 with a home run and four runs batted in for the Bulldogs, who have won seven of eight since a loss to Lipscomb in the first game of regional play. Lyle Allen was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored and Josh Fields earned the win with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Yonder Alonso, Jemile Weeks and Blake Tekotte all homered for the losing Hurricanes, who had gone 5-1 in NCAA Tournament play to reach the CWS.
Reliever Carlos Gutierrez allowed the four ninth-inning runs on three hits.
