WARSAW, Poland, June 13 (UPI) -- Defending champion Tommy Robredo survived a three-set match Friday and advanced to the semifinals of the $670,000 Warsaw Open tennis tournament.

Robredo won this stop on the ATP last year when it was contested in Sopot, Poland. Nikolay Davydenko won it two years ago and he also advanced to the semifinals Friday.

Robredo, the No. 2 seed this year, rallied for a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win over Oscar Hernandez in a quarterfinal match that took 2 hours, 23 minutes. He will go against third-seeded Juan Monaco, who swept past seventh-seeded Marcel Granollers 6-4, 6-3 in his quarterfinal, in the next round.

Davydenko, the No. 1 seed at Warsaw, had no trouble in beating Evgeny Korolev, 6-4, 6-2, in his match Friday.

In the fourth quarterfinal, Fabio Fognini upset fifth-seeded Guillermo Cana, 7-5, 7-5, to earn a shot at Davydenko in Saturday's semifinals.
