
DETROIT, June 12 (UPI) -- Miguel Cabrera's solo home run in the bottom of the ninth Thursday gave Detroit a 2-1 win over the Chicago White Sox.
With one out and the score tied 1-1, the first baseman launched his ninth homer this season into right-field seats off losing pitcher Octavio Dotel (3-3).
Detroit's Carlos Guillen drove in a run in the sixth with one of his two.
Placido Polanco also had two hits for the Tigers, who swept the three game series at Comerica Park.
The winner was closer Todd Jones (2-0) after starter Kenny Rogers surrendered an earned run and just four hits in eight innings.
Chicago scored on Jermaine Dye's second inning sacrifice fly.
Five players had one hit for the White Sox, whose road losing streak grew to five straight games.
Chicago starter Mark Buehrle gave up an earned run and seven hits in eight innings with a walk and six strikeouts.
