BIRMINGHAM, England, June 11 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Marion Bartoli was one of four seeded players losing matches Wednesday at the $200,000 DFS Classic tennis tournament in England.
Bartoli, ranked No. 10 in the world, saw her personal losing streak stretch to four matches and she's won just three times in 12 matches after Petra Cetkovska defeated her, 5-7, 6-4, 6-0, Wednesday.
Sixth-seeded Sania Mirza and No. 7-seeded Olga Govortsova also lost Wednesday with Mirza falling, 6-3, 6-0, to Marina Erakovic and Govortsova losing, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6), to Melinda Czink. No 11-seeded Casey Dellacqua was also ousted, losing to Yanina Wickmayer, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
Third-seeded Nicola Vaidisova ended a six-match losing streak with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Nathalie Dechy while No. 5-seeded Alona Bondarenko got past Ruano Pascual, 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 7-5. No. 12-seeded Kateryna Bondarenko swept past Samantha Stosur, 6-3, 6-2, and 17th-seeded Aiko Nakamura was a, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, winner over Sorana Cirstea.
Camille Pin, Sunitha Rao and Yaroslava Shvedova also claimed second-round wins Wednesday.
