OAKLAND, Calif., June 11 (UPI) -- Chien-Ming Wang held Oakland to one run over 7 1/3 innings Tuesday, leading the New York Yankees to a 3-1 decision over the Athletics.

Wang (7-2) scattered seven hits to collect his first win since May 2 and helped New York to its fifth win in seven games. Mariano Rivera finished up for his 17th save.

Alex Rodriguez and Jason Giambi drove in runs, while Melky Cabrera added a solo homer.

Oakland starter Dana Eveland (4-5) took the loss despite allowing just two runs on four hits and six walks over six innings.
