
SAN DIEGO, June 8 (UPI) -- Scott Hairston led off the bottom of the 10th inning Saturday night with his ninth home run to lead the San Diego Padres to a 2-1 win over the New York Mets.
The Padres had tied the game 1-1 in the seventh when Michael Barrett hit his first homer of the season.
The Mets took a 1-0 lead in the second when Endy Chavez drove in Carlos Beltran with a sacrifice fly.
San Diego starter Cha Seung Baek went six innings, giving up one run on seven hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
Mike Adams (1-0) pitched a scoreless 10th to get the win for the Padres, who set a major league record with their fourth straight 2-1 victory.
Pedro Feliciano (0-2) served up the homer to Hairston to take the loss for the Mets, who lost their third straight game and their fourth out of six.
Mets starter Oliver Perez went 5 1/3 innings, giving up one run on four hits with five strikeouts and two walks.
