ALAMEDA, Calif., June 6 (UPI) -- The Oakland Raiders confirmed Friday they have signed Arkansas running back Darren McFadden, their No. 1 pick, in this year's NFL draft.
The signing was announced by several media sources Thursday night, but the Raiders confirmed it in a news conference in Alameda, Calif.
The team did not release any details, but the San Francisco Chronicle reported that the 6-foot-2 inch, 205-pounder agreed to a six-year contract worth up to $60 million with $26 million guaranteed.
"I'm very happy," McFadden said. "Missing a day of (NFL) training camp is like missing a week of college practices."
McFadden, a native of North Little Rock, Ark., left the Southeastern Conference school with a year of eligibility.
As a junior last season, he scored 16 touchdowns and gained 1,830 yards on 325 rushing attempts.
The two-time Heisman Trophy runner-up compiled 2,300 all-purpose yards in three seasons and accounted for 41 touchdowns.
