ELMONT, N.Y., June 4 (UPI) -- Horse racing's Big Brown will start from the inside post position at the Belmont Stakes in Elmont, N.Y., the last race in the 2008 Triple Crown.
The Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner makes a bid to become the sport's first triple crown winner since Affirmed accomplished the feat in 1978 and just the 12th thoroughbred to sweep the three races.
"I cannot imagine what I'm going to feel like when we turn for home," trainer Rick Dutrow Jr. said. "Our horse is just in a zone and I see his competition and I just know that (turning) for home, something is going to come over (the crowd), so I cannot wait."
His horse is a 2-5 favorite.
Guadalcanal (50-1) will run from post 2, while other challengers include Ready's Echo (30-1), Denis of Cork (12-1), and Casino Drive (7-2).
Big Brown has not been hampered by the quarter-crack in his left front foot, suffered during training two weeks ago.
