
MINNEAPOLIS, June 2 (UPI) -- Delmon Young had three RBI doubles Monday, carrying the Minnesota Twins to a 6-5 victory over the New York Yankees.
Michael Cuddyer was 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored for the Twins, who have won six of their last eight games. Joe Mauer added two hits, including a solo home run.
Matt Guerrier (3-1) picked up the win with 1 2/3 shutout innings in relief of Livan Hernandez, who was gave up five runs on 13 hits in six-plus innings. Joe Nathan worked a scoreless ninth for his 15th save in 16 chances.
Alex Rodriguez hit a two-run homer in a 3-for-4 night for the Yankees. Derek Jeter was 3-for-5 with a double and Johnny Damon, Melky Cabrera and Jason Giambi each had two hits.
Kyle Farnsworth (0-2) allowed a run on three hits in the eighth to take the loss in relief of Andy Pettitte, who gave up five runs on 10 hits in seven innings.
