CARSON, Calif., June 1 (UPI) -- Jorge Flores and Jesse Marsch scored first-period goals within one minute of each other Saturday and Chivas USA went on to beat Columbus 2-0.

Flores scored in the 20th minute, extending his scoring streak to three games. Marsch then scored his fourth goal of the season before Chivas -- which has won three straight -- got a man advantage for the remainder of the game when Columbus defender Danny O'Rourke was sent off in the 22nd minute after a rough hit on Chivas' Atiba Harris.

The victory put Chivas in a three-way tie with Houston and Los Angeles for first place in the Western Conference.

Columbus has lost two straight games -- and has not scored a goal in its last three. The Crew's last goal came in a 3-2 victory over San Jose May 10.
