Twins starter Nick Blackburn, who yielded a run on five hits, left with one out in the fifth inning after he was struck in the face by a line drive hit by Bobby Abreu. Twins officials said X-rays taken later on Blackburn were negative.
Reliever Brian Bass (2-1) pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings and got the win.
Derek Jeter hit a solo home run for the Yankees. Starter Darrell Rasner (3-2) was the loser, yielding four runs and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings.
