KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 30 (UPI) -- Grady Sizemore hit two home runs Friday and saved the game with a spectacular catch in the ninth, giving the Cleveland Indians a 5-4 win over Kansas City.
It was the 12th straight loss for the Royals, who again suffered from bad luck in their bid to end their slump.
Sizemore hit a solo homer in the first and a two-run shot in the fifth. Cleveland was trailing, however, before Casey Blake produced a two-run homer in the sixth.
Cliff Lee (8-1) grabbed the win, giving up four runs on 10 hits in six innings. Joe Borowski recorded his fourth save.
Kansas City had a runner on second in the ninth when Sizemore slammed into the wall in right-center after making a running catch on a drive by Jose Guillen to end the game.
The Royals also lost an apparent run in the sixth when David DeJesus singled, only to overrun second. He was tagged out as he tried to dive back to the bag -- the third out of the inning being recorded just before Joey Gathright touched home with what would have been the tying run.
Reliever Brett Tomko (2-7) suffered the loss when he gave up the Blake homer.
