Kurt Busch had the second best time at 23.381 and points leader Kyle Busch was third in 23.412.

Two-time defending series champion Jimmie Johnson will start alongside Kyle Busch on the second row after turning in a lap of 23.414.

Jeff Gordon, who has struggled throughout the year, qualified seventh.

"I've been excited since the first lap on the race track," Gordon said. "It's been fast and that's something we haven't had in a while."

Kyle Busch will take a 94-point lead over Jeff Burton into the race. In 30 starts in NASCAR's three major series this year, Busch has nine victories and has finished in the top 10 on 20 occasions.
