KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 29 (UPI) -- Kevin Slowey went the distance Thursday, scattering six hits to pace Minnesota's 5-1 win over struggling Kansas City.

The Royals lost their 11th consecutive game, their longest losing streak in two years. The streak was extended on Wednesday when Kansas City blew a five-run lead in the ninth en route to a 9-8, 10-inning setback against the Twins.

Slowey (2-4) struck out six and did not walk a batter in a 101-pitch effort. He won his second straight start.

Carlos Gomez had four hits and drove in two runs, helping the Twins to their first three-game sweep of the Royals since April 2005.

Michael Cuddyer broke a scoreless tie in the fourth with an RBI single and Joe Mauer doubled home the Twins' second run in the fifth.

Gomez polished off a three-run sixth with a two-run single.

The loss went to Luke Hochevar (3-5), who surrendered nine hits and five runs in 5 1/3.
