GAINESVILLE, Fla., May 28 (UPI) -- The Gainesville (Fla.) Sun reported Wednesday that Chicago Bulls forward Joakim Noah has received six months probation for a drug charge last weekend.
The former Florida Gators standout was arrested by Gainesville police early Sunday morning in the downtown area on a marijuana possession charge and for drinking alcohol in an open container.
The newspaper said that the State Attorney's Office has confirmed that he will pay a $200 fine.
As a first-time offender, Noah was eligible for the deferred prosecution agreement and $150 will go toward a charitable contribution that provides restitution for juvenile offenders.
In separate incidents, he must pay $206 in traffic fines for two traffic citations he received Sunday night on the campus for driving with a suspended license without knowledge and not wearing a seat belt.
The 7-foot Noah helped Florida win back-to-back NCAA titles in 2006 and 2007 before he was first-round pick by the Bulls in the 2007 NBA draft.
