MILWAUKEE, May 28 (UPI) -- Jeff Suppan threw eight shutout innings Wednesday, carrying Milwaukee to a 1-0 victory over Atlanta.
Suppan (3-4) won for just the second time in 10 starts, but he was tremendous against the Braves -- allowing four hits while striking out seven. Salomon Torres finished off the shutout by working a perfect ninth for his fourth save.
Atlanta's Jo-Jo Reyes (2-3) matched Suppan through seven innings, but became the hard-luck loser when a two-out triple in the eighth by Rickie Weeks drove in J.J. Hardy from second with the game's lone run.
Reyes walked Hardy to lead off the eighth and was relieved by Blaine Boyer. Jason Kendall sacrificed Hardy to second and pinch-hitter Joe Dillon struck out. Weeks followed with his game-winning hit on an 0-1 pitch.
Reyes allowed just two hits and struck out nine.
