LOS ANGELES, May 27 (UPI) -- Detroit reliever Bobby Seay walked Garret Anderson with the bases loaded in the 12th Monday, allowing the only run in a 1-0 LA Angels win over the Tigers.
Seay had entered the game after Freddy Dolsi (0-1) gave up one-out singles to Maicer Izturis and Vladimir Guerrero, then intentionally walked Torii Hunter.
Angels starter Jon Garland scattered four hits and three walks over 7 1/3 scoreless innings. The win -- the seventh in the past 10 games for LA -- went to Jose Arredondo (1-0), who earned his first major league victory by pitching two innings of scoreless relief.
Detroit starter Kenny Rogers also went seven scoreless innings, allowing five hits and one walk.
"It was a great ballgame," said Detroit manager Jim Leyland. "All the pitchers did a great job. We didn't take advantage of our opportunities."
