CARSON, Calif., May 25 (UPI) -- Landon Donovan had a goal and an assist and the Los Angeles Galaxy scored three second-half goals Saturday night to beat Kansas City 3-1.

The Wizards (3-4-2) scored first when Claudio Lopez came up with an unassisted goal in the 40th minute.

Donovan tied at 1-1 with his ninth goal on a penalty kick in the 54th minute, and then got an assist, along with Alan Gordon, on Edson Buddle's goal in the 74th minute. David Beckham capped the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 94th minute.

The win -- LA's second straight -- gave the Galaxy (4-3-2) sole possession of first place in the Western Conference.

The Wizards have lost four straight and remain next-to-last in the East.
