Slowey (1-4) gave up just four hits and left after six innings owning a 5-0 lead. Reliever Dennys Reyes did not record an out in allowing three of Detroit's four runs in the seventh, but Minnesota added some insurance in the latter innings, including a solo homer by Mike Lamb.

Lamb also had a triple and scored four times in helping the Twins end a two-game skid. Detroit had a three-game winning streak halted.

The loss was suffered by Armando Galarraga (3-2). He coughed up five runs on seven hits in six innings.
