CLEVELAND, May 23 (UPI) -- Jarrod Saltalamacchia delivered a grand slam homer during a seven-run third inning Friday and the Texas Rangers went on to out-slug Cleveland 13-9.

The Indians put 17 men on base and still lost their seventh straight game.

Cleveland's Fausto Carmona (4-2) -- owner of the third best ERA in the American League going into the game -- threw 40 pitches and gave up four runs in the opening inning. The Indians closed to within a run through two, but Carmona injured his hip in the third trying to cover first base on an infield single by David Murphy.

Carmona came out of the game after being charged with six runs on five hits in two-plus innings.

Jorge Julio relieved Carmona and was shelled by the Rangers for another five runs, including Saltalamacchia's grand slam.

Texas starter Kason Gabbard did not last long enough to get the win, which went to reliever Kameron Loe (1-0). He gave up four hits and a run in 2 2/3.

The Rangers won their third straight and climbed to the .500 mark. It was the ninth time this season Texas had scored at least 10 runs -- most in the majors.
