
MINNEAPOLIS, May 22 (UPI) -- Josh Hamilton's solo home run in the top of the 10th inning Thursday gave the Texas Rangers an 8-7 win over the Minnesota Twins.
The Rangers' right-fielder started the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the first inning and finished with three hits and two RBI. Texas' Chris Shelton hit a two-run double in the sixth.
Three other Rangers had one RBI each and a run scored on Michael Cuddyer's first-inning throwing error.
David Murphy also had three hits and three others had two hits for the Rangers, who earned a four-game split.
The winner was Joaquin Benoit (3-1). C.J. Wilson recorded his ninth save.
Carlos Gomez led Minnesota with four hits, including a solo homer in the fifth, and three RBI. Cuddyer had two hits and one RBI, while Justin Morneau hit a two-run single in the eighth.
Alexi Casilla had two hits and scored three times, and Mike Redmond added two hits for the Twins, whose losing pitcher was Brian Bass (1-1).
