HOUSTON, May 22 (UPI) -- Pat Burrell's home run put Philadelphia in front in the eighth inning Thursday and the Phillies recorded their third straight win -- 7-5 over Houston.
Philadelphia pounded out 15 hits one night after scoring 12 runs against Washington.
The Phillies let a three-run lead get away before coming through with a two-run eighth.
With Wesley Wright on the mound for his second inning in relief of Roy Oswalt, Burrell was called on to pinch hit for Greg Dobbs. Burrell homered to left on a 3-1 pitch, giving Philadelphia a 6-5 lead. He was the only batter Wright (3-2) faced.
Fernando Nieve replaced Wright and walked Carlos Ruiz, who was then forced at second on a fielder's choice grounder by Jayson Werth. Jimmy Rollins singled Werth to second and Chase Utley singled home an insurance run.
Chad Durbin, Philadelphia's fourth pitcher, got the win by working the top of the seventh. Brad Lidge picked up his 12th save.
