SAN DIEGO, May 21 (UPI) -- Kevin Kouzmanoff's three-run homer in the sixth inning Tuesday powered San Diego past St. Louis 3-2.
Padres starter Greg Maddux gave up two runs on five hits and a walk over five innings but it was the San Diego bullpen that starred Tuesday, combining for four scoreless innings of relief. Bryan Corey (1-0) provided two of those blank frames to get the win.
San Diego, 12 games behind first-place Arizona in the National League West, ended a three-game losing streak.
Kouzmanoff and Khalil Greene each had two hits for the Padres, who had only six hits total.
Joel Pineiro (2-3) took the loss for St. Louis, surrendering three runs on six hits and three walks in 5 2/3 innings.
Troy Glaus scored and knocked in a run for the Cardinals.
