WASHINGTON, May 21 (UPI) -- Ryan Howard hit two of Philadelphia's four home runs Wednesday in the Phillies' 12-2 blasting of Washington.
Jamie Moyer threw six shutout innings and benefited from a 15-hit assault from an offense that had generated only one run combined in its previous two games.
Howard came into the game batting a mere .183 for the season, but delivered his first three-hit game of the campaign.
He hit a solo homer in the fifth and punctuated an eight-run sixth with a two-run shot. Pedro Feliz and Shane Victorino also hit solo home runs for the Phillies.
Moyer (4-3) scattered seven hits with a walk. By working the final three innings, Clay Condrey picked up his first save of the year.
Matt Chico (0-6) absorbed the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits in five innings.
