
Longoria ended with three hits and three runs batted in and Eric Hinske added a two-run home run as the Rays won for the ninth time in 12 games. Jason Hammel (3-2) collected the win with three innings of relief and Troy Percival, despite giving up a run, got his 12th save.
Frank Thomas had two home runs and Emil Brown also homered for Oakland.
The A's led 3-0 after two innings but the middle innings turned into a see-saw affair with Tampa Bay taking the lead with two-run rallies in the fifth and sixth innings, Oakland tying the score 4-4 in the bottom of the sixth.
The Rays went up by a run in the seventh when Akinori Iwamura delivered a run-scoring double. An inning later, Ryan Sweeney tied the score for Oakland with a two-out single.
Carlos Pena led off the Tampa Bay 13th with a single before Longoria drilled a 2-1 pitch into the left-field seats to hand the loss to Chad Gaudin (3-3).
