
DALLAS, May 19 (UPI) -- The Detroit Red Wings took a slot in the Stanley Cup Finals Monday for the first time since winning the NHL title in 2002 with a 4-1 victory over Dallas.
Henrik Zetterberg and Dallas Drake each had a goal and an assist for the Red Wings, who won the Western Conference finals four games to two. Detroit goalie Chris Osgood stopped 28 of 29 shots.
The Red Wings will be going for their fourth championship since 1997 and 11th overall in the franchise's 82-year history.
Stephane Robidas scored the lone goal for the Stars. Dallas goalie Marty Turco allowed four goals on 29 shots.
Detroit won the first three games of the best-of-seven series before Dallas won two.
Detroit plays Pittsburgh in the NHL finals. Pittsburgh beat Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference finals.
Games 1 and 2 of the finals will be Saturday and Monday in Detroit.
