

STRASBOURG, France, May 19 (UPI) -- Anabel Medina Garrigues opened defense of her $175,000 Strasbourg International tennis tournament title with a tight win Monday in France.
Garrigues, seeded sixth this week, upset Amelie Mauresmo in last year's Strasbourg championship match and continued her tournament win streak with a 7-6 (7-3), 7-5 victory over Klara Zakopalova.
The other two seeded players on Monday's card also won with fourth-seeded Flavia Pennetta rallying for a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory over Nathalie Dechy and No. 7-seeded Ai Sugiyama beating Mariya Koryttseva 7-5, 7-5.
Also winning first-round matches Monday were Shuai Peng, Casey Dellacqua, Petra Kvitova and Stephanie Chen-Aloro.
Peng's second-round match is against top-seeded Marion Bartoli.
