
DENVER, Conn., May 18 (UPI) -- Ryan Spilborghs' pinch single in the bottom of the eighth inning Saturday gave the Colorado Rockies a 3-2 win over Minnesota.
The contest was knotted 2-2 when Spilborghs, batting for winner Matt Herges (2-0), delivered his game-winning hit through a drawn-in infield and into center. Jeff Baker, who had two runs and two hits, scored from third base.
Willy Taveras had two hits and one RBI and Garrett Atkins added a sacrifice fly in the seventh for the Rockies, who ended their six-game losing streak.
Brian Fuentes worked out of trouble in the ninth for his fifth save.
Minnesota got one RBI each from starting and losing pitcher Livan Hernandez and Brendan Harris. Delmon Young had a run and two hits for the Twins, who have dropped four of five.
After retiring the first 15 batters he faced, Hernandez (6-2) yielded three earned runs and eight hits in 7 1/3 innings.
