Blackburn (4-2) struck out five and did not walk a batter in helping the Twins halt a three-game losing streak. It was Minnesota's first-ever appearance at Colorado's Coors Field.
The Rockies rallied to tie the game with two runs in the fourth and then got only three more hits the rest of the contest.
Juan Rincon, Dennys Reyes and Joe Nathan combined to work two shutout innings. Nathan gave up a single and a walk in the ninth, but benefited from a double play to earn his 13th save.
Ubaldo Jimenez (1-4) took the loss, giving up eight hits and three runs in seven innings.
In a 2-2 game, Jimenez gave up a leadoff double to Delmon Young in the sixth. Young moved to third on a fly ball out by Mike Lamb and scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly by Adam Everett.
Another sacrifice fly by Everett in the eighth delivered an insurance run.
