
BALTIMORE, May 17 (UPI) -- Nick Markakis had a two-run homer and an RBI single Saturday to lead the Baltimore Orioles past Washington 6-5.
Markakis drove in a run with a single in the first and then smacked a two-run homer in the third. Melvin Mora hit an RBI single in the third and Jay Payton added a two-run homer in the fifth.
Winner Brian Burres (4-4) ended a personal three-start losing streak, giving up two earned runs and only four hits in 6 2/3 innings.
Closer George Sherrill, the last of five pitchers, earned his 17th save this season with a 1-2-3 ninth.
Washington's Aaron Boone had two hits and two RBI. Ryan Zimmerman hit a solo homer in the fourth.
Jesus Flores and Lastings Milledge both drove in one run and, like Boone, Wily Mo Pens had two hits for the Nationals, who have dropped six of nine.
The losing pitcher was starter Odalis Perez (1-4).
