Report: Arthur had grades altered

LAWRENCE, Kan., May 16 (UPI) -- Dallas television station WFAA is reporting that the high school grades of University of Kansas forward Darrell Arthur were altered.

The 6-foot-9 inch Arthur, a sophomore, attended South Oak Cliff high school in Dallas before enrolling at the Big 12 school.

"Totally ludicrous," South Oak Cliff Coach James Mays told The Lawrence (Kan.) Journal-World newspaper in a response. "We've been fighting this with (WFAA) since last year."

Arthur was the second-leading scorer when the Jayhawks won the NCAA title last season.

South Oak Cliff forfeited its 2006 state title before the station's report after it was discovered that one of Arthur's teammates was academically ineligible.

Arthur, whose per game averages last season were 12.8 points and 6.3 rebounds, has announced plans to enter this year's NBA draft in June but hasn't hired an agent, which means he could return to Kansas next season.
