GRAMBLING, La., May 16 (UPI) -- Rick Duckett, a long-time assistant at South Carolina, has been chosen as the head basketball coach at Grambling State University.
Duckett spent the last six years on the staff at South Carolina. He built a 150-75 record over eight years as the head coach at NCAA Division II Fayetteville State and Winston-Salem State.
"Coach Duckett is a proven tactician who has worked with some of the best coaches in the business," said Grambling Athletic Director Troy Mathieu. "He has a unique ability to motivate and connect with student-athletes and will bring tremendous enthusiasm to our men's basketball program."
Duckett replaces Larry Wright, who had an 88-160 record over nine seasons at Grambling. The Tigers were 7-19 last season.
