MLB: LA Dodgers 7, Milwaukee 2

MILWAUKEE, May 15 (UPI) -- Gary Bennett's three-run homer capped a six-run seventh inning Thursday as the Los Angeles Dodgers belted the Milwaukee Brewers 7-2.

He launched his first round-tripper this season following solo homers by Andruw Jones and Jeff Kent and an RBI single by Russell Martin, all off Milwaukee starting and losing pitcher Ben Sheets.

Bennett added an RBI double in the ninth.

Martin and Juan Pierre also had two hits for the Dodgers, who have won two in a row following a five-game losing streak.

Winner Chad Billingsley (3-5) was charged with an earned run and just three hits in seven innings with four walks and five strikeouts.

Milwaukee scored on J.J. Hardy's double play ground out and Ryan Braun's solo homer, both in the eighth.

In his first loss this season, Sheets (4-1) yielded six earned runs and nine hits in 6 1/3 innings with no walks and five strikeouts.
