MLB: Kansas City 8, Detroit 4

KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 15 (UPI) -- Jose Guillen's two hits and three RBI Thursday led the Kansas City Royals past Detroit 8-4.

Guillen drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the second inning, hit a solo homer in the fourth and then had an RBI infield single in the eighth.

Billy Butler hit a two-run double in the first. Three others drove in a run and Butler was one of five players with one hit for the Royals, whose winning streak grew to four straight games.

They are 6-0 against Detroit this season.

Winner Gil Meche (3-5) yielded three earned runs and six hits in seven innings with two walks and six strikeouts.

Detroit's Matt Joyce hit a sacrifice fly and a solo homer. Curtis Granderson and Magglio Ordonez both had one RBI while Ordonez had two hits for the Tigers, who have lost 10 of their last 12 games.

The losing pitcher was starter Kenny Rogers (3-4).
