

ST. LOUIS, May 14 (UPI) -- Marino Salas won his major league debut Tuesday, working out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth in a 10-inning 8-4 Pittsburgh victory over St. Louis.
The 27-year-old rookie had just been called up from Class AAA Indianapolis.
Ronny Paulino put the Pirates ahead with an RBI single, and Adam LaRoche added to the margin with a bases-clearing double.
Starter Phil Dumatrait scattered four hits and three runs over six innings. He struck out four and walked three for the Pirates, who have won seven of eight.
Ron Villone (0-1) surrendered the four runs on four hits in the 10th to take the loss for the Cardinals, who have dropped three straight and six of seven. Starter Kyle Lohse gave up four runs in seven innings.
Albert Pujols hit a game-tying homer in the eighth for St. Louis.
