Hennie Otto wins the Italian Open

MILAN, Italy, May 11 (UPI) -- South Africa's Hennie Otto won the Italian Open golf tournament in Milan, Italy, by one-stroke over England's Oliver Wilson.

Otto secured his first European Tour tournament title despite squandering most of the five-stroke advantage he held when the fourth round started. Over the final 18 holes, Otto shot 3-under-par 69 and his winning 72-hole total was 25-under 263.

Wilson (64) finished 24-under 264.

This was the second time this season Otto held a five-shot advantage entering the final day. He blew that lead at the Madeira Islands Open in Santa Cruz, Madeira, in March and was beaten in a sudden-death playoff by Scotland's Alastair Forsyth.

"It's great to win at last," the 31-year-old Otto told reporters after producing the lowest winning total this season on the European Tour. "I don't think I've ever holed more long putts than I did this week."

Swede Robert Karlsson (67), who established a course record with an 11-under 61 Friday, finished third at 18-under 265.
