MLB: N.Y. Mets 12, Cincinnati 6

NEW YORK, May 10 (UPI) -- Carlos Beltran's two hits and five RBI keyed the New York Mets' 12-6 rout of Cincinnati in the opener of a day/night double-header.

Beltran's day started with an RBI single in the bottom of the third. Later, he hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth and a three-run triple in the sixth.

Moises Alou had two hits and two RBI. Carlos Delgado and Brian Schneider hit solo homers in the seventh.

Delgado had three hits for the Mets, who have split their last four contests.

Winner Johan Santana (4-2) gave up three earned runs and 10 hits in six innings.

Cincinnati's Ken Griffey Jr. and Edwin Encarnacion both had two hits and two RBI. Joey Votto and Scott Hatteberg drove in one run.

Ryan Freel had two runs and three hits for the Reds, who also have split their last four.

The losing pitcher was starter Matt Belisle (1-3).
