MINNEAPOLIS, May 10 (UPI) -- Mike Lamb's two-run single with two out in the ninth Friday lifted the Minnesota Twins to a 7-6 victory over Boston.
The Red Sox, who had won six of their previous seven games, scored four times in the fifth to take a one-run lead and held it until the Twins came back against Jonathan Papelbon (2-2).
Delmon Young singled to open the ninth and moved to second on a sacrifice by Matt Tolbert. Adam Everett then popped up for the second out of the inning.
With Carlos Gomez at the plate, Young stole third. Gomez drew a walk and then swiped second before Lamb drove in both runners with a single to left.
Jesse Crain (1-1) gave up two singles in the top of the ninth, but did not allow a run and escaped with the win.
Mike Lowell's two-run double highlighted Boston's four-run fifth.
