PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla., May 10 (UPI) -- Paul Goydos, a two-time winner on the PGA Tour, carded a 2-under 70 Saturday for a one-shot lead after three rounds of The Players Championship.

Goydos, who has just one top-25 finish since winning the 2007 Sony Open in Hawaii, completed 54 holes rounds at 7-under 209.

Goydos, 43, is 97th in putts per round this season, but is first this week in putts per round, as well as putts per green in regulation.

His round of five birdies and three bogeys included 11 one-putt greens. Goydos will take the lead into the final round for the first time in his tour career.

Second-round leader Kenny Perry shot an even-par 72 and dropped into second place at 6-under-par 210. First-round leader Sergio Garcia shot his second 73 and is third at 212.

Defending champion Phil Mickelson (71) shares fourth at 214 with Jeff Quinney (70) and Bernard Langer (75).
