ARLINGTON, Texas, May 9 (UPI) -- Scott Feldman teamed with three relievers Friday to throw the third straight shutout by the staff of the Texas Rangers -- a 4-0 blanking of Oakland.
The Rangers' usually maligned pitching corps has allowed just one run over the last 41 innings and none over the last 30, the second-longest such streak in the history of the franchise.
Texas' opposition has managed only 10 hits in the last three games and the Rangers have won eight out of their last 10. The previous two shutouts came Wednesday and Thursday in Seattle.
Feldman (1-1) allowed two hits over six innings and was backed up by an inning each from Jamey Wright, Joaquin Benoit and C.J. Wilson.
Wilson kept the Athletics off the board despite putting the first two men on base in the ninth.
The loss went to Greg Smith, who gave up all four runs on six hits in six innings.
Brandon Boggs drove in three runs on a two-run blast in the second and a two-out double in the sixth. He finished a triple short of the cycle.
