PITTSBURGH, May 9 (UPI) -- Freddie Sanchez singled with two out in the ninth Friday, driving in Brian Bixler from third to give the Pittsburgh Pirates a 3-2 win over Atlanta.
Atlanta tied the game in the eighth, but the Pirates avoided extra innings and won their fourth in a row. The Braves had a six-game winning streak snapped.
Will Ohman opened ninth on the mound for Atlanta and retired Adam LaRoche on a fly to left. Jeff Bennett then relieved Ohman and gave up a single to Jose Bautista, who was erased at second on a fielder's choice grounder to shortstop by Bixler.
Pinch-hitter Doug Mientkiewicz singled Bixler to third before Sanchez delivered a sharp single off Bennett (0-2).
The ninth-inning run made a winner out of John Grabow (2-1), who worked his way out of a jam in the top half of the frame.
Grabow relieved Tyler Yates in the ninth with two on and none out. He fanned Kelly Johnson and got a double-play grounder from Yunel Escobar to keep the game tied.
