Tommie Harris' wife dies

SEATTLE, May 8 (UPI) -- Vicente Padilla combined with two relievers on a two-hitter Wednesday, carrying Texas to a 2-0 blanking of Seattle.
Padilla (5-2) allowed both Seattle hits, walked two and struck out eight in a seven-inning stint. Joaquin Benoit worked around a walk in the eighth and C.J. Wilson pitched the ninth for his eighth save.
Brandon Boggs tripled home a run in the fourth and Milton Bradley hit his fourth homer of the year in the sixth.
Texas downed the Mariners for the second straight night after having won only three times in their 15 previous games in Seattle.
The loss went to Erik Bedard (2-2), who gave up two runs on six hits over seven innings.
