The report said Matt Walsh, who worked in the Patriots' video department, has forwarded eight tapes to the league office. The Times said those tapes show playing-calling signals being used by coaches of five opponents during six games between 2000 and 2002.
League rules prohibit the taping of such signals.
The report said, however, that none of the tapes are of the St. Louis Rams' walk-through practice session prior to Super Bowl XXXVI. The Boston Herald reported a day before this year's Super Bowl that Walsh was in possession of such a tape, but Walsh's attorney told the Times such a tape does not exist.
Walsh is to meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell next week.
The Times said the tapes handed over to the league office involved games against Miami, Buffalo, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and San Diego.
