BERLIN, May 7 (UPI) -- World No. 1 Justine Henin breezed through a second-round victory Wednesday at the $1.34 million German Open.

Henin used five service breaks in routing Yung-Jan Chan 6-0, 6-2 and headed into the third round of the claycourt tune up for the French Open. There she'll go against 13th-seeded Dinara Safina, who was a 6-4, 6-3 winner Wednesday over Kaia Kanepi.

Second-seeded Ana Ivanovic, the defending champion, got by Akgul Amanmuradova 7-6 (7-0), 6-2 in her match. She draws Sybille Bammer, who edged Sabine Lisicki 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (7-5) in her second-round match.

No. 3-seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova advanced with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Catalina Castano. Her next opponent is 15th-seeded Alona Bondarenko, who defeated Medina Garrigues' title='Anabel Medina Garrigues' class='tpstyle'>Anabel Medina Garrigues 7-5, 0-6, 6-3.

Sixth-seeded Anna Chakvetadze and No. 16 Nadia Petrova were the only seeded players to fall Wednesday. Chakvetadze lost 1-6, 7-6 (7-1), 6-4 to Victoria Azarenka and Maria Kirilenko beat Petrova 6-3, 6-3.

Other second-round matches saw fourth-seeded Jelena Jankovic stop Shuai Peng 7-5, 6-0; 10th-seeded Agnes Szavay drop Zi Yan 6-1, 6-1; and 11th-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska rip Angelika Bachman 6-1, 6-1.

Also Wednesday, Gisela Dulko downed Caroline Wozniacki 6-2, 7-5 and Vera Dushevina ousted Alisa Kleybanova 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
