MLB: Texas 6, Oakland 3

OAKLAND, Calif., May 4 (UPI) -- A.J. Murray went 5 1/3 innings and David Murphy hit a three-run homer Saturday to lead the Texas Rangers past Oakland 6-3.

Murray (1-0) allowed three runs on six hits and two walks, and the Texas bullpen shut out the A's from there to give the Rangers their fourth straight win. Joaquin Benoit picked up his first save of the season.

The Rangers had a balanced attack, with each member of the starting lineup getting one hit. Chris Shelton had a home run and Michael Young and Josh Hamilton each had an RBI.

Chad Gaudin (3-2) took the loss, giving up five runs on eight hits and two walks in six innings.

Mike Sweeney had two hits and two RBI, and Bobby Crosby had an RBI for Oakland.
