
CHICAGO, May 1 (UPI) -- Ryan Braun's two-run, ninth inning double Thursday gave Milwaukee a 4-3 victory against the Chicago Cubs.
Braun's third hit sailed over the head of right-fielder Kosuke Fukudome and capped a three-run outburst against Chicago reliever and losing pitcher Kerry Wood (2-1) in the top of the ninth.
Earlier, Braun belted a solo home run in the sixth.
Corey Hart and Jason Kendall had two hits for the Brewers, who bounced back from a 19-5 loss on Wednesday.
The winner was reliever Brian Shouse (2-0) with Eric Gagne earning his ninth save this season.
Chicago got a solo homer from starter Carlos Zambrano in the bottom of the third, a sacrifice fly by Mark DeRosa and an RBI double by Geovany Soto in the sixth.
Zambrano gave up an earned run and seven hits in 6 1/3 innings.
Milwaukee starter Yovani Gallardo surrendered three earned runs and nine hits in six innings.
Fukudome had four hits for the Cubs.
