
ARLINGTON, Texas, April 30 (UPI) -- Jose Guillen hit a two-run homer and drove in five runs Tuesday, powering the Kansas City Royals to a 9-5 victory over the Texas Rangers.
Guillen also scored two runs while going 2-for-4 in the Royals' third win in their last four games.
Mark Teahen drove in three runs for Kansas City, and Mark Grudzielanek went 4-for-6 with three doubles and scored three times.
The Rangers jumped on Kansas City starter Brett Tomko, who coughed up five runs on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings. Ron Mahay (1-0) got the win with 2 1/3 innings of two-hit, scoreless relief.
Michael Young, Josh Hamilton, Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Ramon Vazquez each drove in a run for the Rangers, who have lost seven of their last nine.
Rangers starter Jason Jennings (0-5) was nicked for five runs on eight hits in just two-plus innings of work.
