Bills have lucrative deal with Toronto

TORONTO, April 30 (UPI) -- The NFL's Buffalo Bills will make $78 million for the eight games they play in Toronto.

The Toronto Star reported on Wednesday that Rogers Communications Inc. will pay the Bills for that amount for five regular-season games and three preseason games sprinkled over the next five NFL seasons.

All contests will be played at the SkyDome. The facility, formerly used for home games for baseball's Toronto Blue Jays, now is owned by Rogers Communications and has been renamed the Rogers Centre.

The contract runs through 2012.

"All I can say is we are thrilled to bring the NFL product to fans in Toronto," Jan Inness, a Rogers spokesman, told the newspaper.

The report noted that part of the revenue difference in Toronto will be made up by tickets that will cost several times what they cost in Buffalo.

Ticket prices likely will be as high as $350.

Buffalo faces Pittsburgh on Aug. 14 (preseason) and Miami on Dec. 7.
